Bed Guide
Which bed should you choose?
The Bed Guide
Make your bed adapt to your body
Your body deserves optimal comfort and the right support during sleep, and it starts with choosing the right firmness for your bed. Considering that we spend about a third of our lives in bed, it is crucial to choose a firmness that suits your physique and sleeping position. Your weight also plays an important role in this choice.
Firmness Guide
Find the right firmness and spring height for your body
When we talk about a bed’s hardness, we are referring to how firm or soft the spring mattress is. At Swedishbed, it is the bed’s middle mattress that does the primary work of providing your body with the right support and pressure relief throughout the night.
Choosing the right firmness is crucial for your sleep quality, especially during warm Mediterranean nights when the body needs maximum relaxation:
Too soft bed: Does not provide enough support, causing heavier body parts to sink too deep. This leads to uneven pressure on the spine and joints. The result is often that you wake up and turn over several times during the night, which disturbs deep sleep.
Too firm bed: Creates excessive pressure against your shoulders and hips. Blood circulation is inhibited and the vital support for the lower back and waist is completely absent.
How spring height affects the feel of the bed
Did you know that the height of the springs plays a big role in how the bed is experienced? The height of the spring system determines the bed’s depth and flexibility:
Higher springs: Provide a deeper, softer, and more enveloping feel where the mattress follows the body’s contours with extra luxury.
Lower springs: Provide a more compact and firmer feel with more direct and immediate support.
An important rule of thumb to remember is that regardless of whether you prefer a bed model with higher or lower springs, you should always choose the base firmness (medium, firm, or extra firm) that matches your weight and your physique.

Soft
A soft mattress is best suited for people weighing between 50-60 kg who prefer a softer sleep experience. If you are within this weight range but want more support and a firmer feel, a mattress with Medium firmness may be a better choice.
Medium
Medium firmness is generally suitable for people weighing between 50-85 kg. It provides a balanced combination of support and comfort.
Firm
A firm mattress is recommended for people weighing between 85-115 kg. This firmness level may also suit you if you weigh over 115 kg and sleep on your back, or if you weigh 70-85 kg and always sleep on your stomach.
Extra Firm
If you weigh over 115 kg, we recommend choosing a firm or extra firm frame bed, as these usually provide better support and stability than continental beds. If you still prefer a continental bed, we recommend choosing a mattress with extra firm hardness.
Combined firmness levels
If there are two of you sharing a bed, we have the option to combine different firmness levels in a double bed (from 160 cm and up). For example, a bed labeled Medium / Firm means that one side has Medium firmness and the other Firm. If you wish for a different combination than what is available on the website, such as Soft / Firm, you are welcome to contact our customer service for help.
Remember that these are general recommendations, and the most important thing is to choose a firmness that feels right for you and your individual needs.
The Mattress Topper
The mattress topper also plays an important role in comfort, but it is mostly the surface comfort that is affected. It contributes to a softer and more pleasant sleeping surface, but it is the middle mattress that will provide your body with the deep and necessary support. By choosing a bed with the right firmness adapted specifically for you, your body gets the support and relief it needs, meaning your spine can rest in a natural and relieving position.
Choose the right bed length
The length of the bed is a factor that can easily be overlooked. The standard length of our beds is 200 cm, but if you are taller, it may be worth considering a bed that is 210 cm long. We recommend having at least 10 cm extra above your head and 10 cm between your feet and the edge of the bed. If you are taller than 190 cm, a 210 cm long bed is ideal so that you can stretch out properly and sleep comfortably without your feet sticking out.
Here is a completely redesigned and professional text about the spring mattress’s pocket zones, adapted for your physical store under the name Swedishbed in Torrevieja. The text has been optimized to explain the technology in a simple way and invites the customer to the store to get personal help in testing the right zone system.
Spring mattress pocket zones – Ergonomic support for your body
To ensure you get as relaxed and ergonomic a sleeping position as possible, the spring mattresses at Swedishbed are equipped with advanced pocket systems. In these systems, the springs are divided into different zones, known as pocket zones.
The zones are anatomically designed according to the human body. This means that certain parts of the mattress are softer to allow shoulders and hips to sink in, while other parts are firmer to support the waist and lower back. By choosing a mattress that shapes itself exactly to your unique figure, the spine is optimally relieved, reducing the risk of waking up with stiffness or aches.
However, it is important to remember that the most zones do not automatically mean the best bed for everyone. Which system suits you depends entirely on your body shape, your weight, and how you prefer to sleep.
Our different zone systems – Which one suits you?
In our store in Torrevieja, we offer beds with different zone systems to be able to tailor the comfort to your specific needs:
7 zones – Maximum body adaptation
Many of our premium beds are equipped with a 7-zone system. These zones are designed to shape the bed maximally to your anatomy. The system provides softer support at the head, shoulders, and hips so these areas can sink in properly, while the zone at the waist and lower back is firmer to provide a strong lift. The goal is for your spine to be kept completely straight when you sleep on your side.
5 zones – Balanced support for wider areas
In a 5-zone system, the zones for the torso/waist and thighs/knees are merged. This creates a slightly wider support profile that provides fantastic relief. It is often a very beneficial choice for those with slightly wider shoulders or hips, as it allows the body to sink down in a very harmonious way.
3 zones – Basic and stable protection
This classic system focuses on dividing the bed into three main comfort areas: the upper body, the hip area, and the legs. It provides a stable, reliable, and basic adaptation to the body’s centers of gravity.
Without zones – Even and firm resistance
Beds without pocket zones provide completely even resistance across the entire surface of the mattress. This is often preferred by people who sleep a lot on their stomachs, or who simply feel most comfortable with a traditional, firmer bed feel where you lie “on top” of the mattress rather than sinking into it.
